Clinical PhD Internship Recommendation

#1

Dear Colleagues,

I am a doctoral psychology candidate at Fordham University, seeking an internship for the 2025-26 academic year in a setting that provides strong training and guidance across a range of clinical experiences. I am particularly looking for an opportunity to work with diverse therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, biofeedback, and neuropsychological assessment. Ideally, I would like to work in an interdisciplinary environment with clients of all ages, from children to adults.

Currently, I am the middle school psychologist at Yeshiva Har Torah, where I conduct academic assessments, implement CBT-based interventions, and lead social-emotional lessons covering topics like DBT skills, mindfulness, and anxiety prevention. Additionally, I serve as the liaison to the Department of Education, managing evaluations and advocating for students to ensure they receive the necessary support. I also supervise interns, supporting their clinical development—a responsibility I would be excited to bring to an internship setting.

At my recent externship with Behavioral Associates on the Upper East Side, I immersed myself in a variety of learning opportunities, going beyond the required hours to gain hands-on experience with biofeedback, neurofeedback, virtual reality, and comprehensive neuropsychological assessments. I worked with clients across the lifespan, with a strong focus on adults and couples, providing therapy for issues including anxiety, depression, suicidality, OCD, trauma, and relational challenges. Additionally, I facilitated parent training, helping families address complex dynamics and communication challenges. My work included using evidence-based techniques such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and ERP, allowing me to tailor my approach to each client’s needs.

I am excited to bring my varied experiences to a new clinical setting and to continue learning from a team of experienced professionals. I look forward to hearing from you if you have a site where I could intern, or if you have any recommendations for a practice or organization to which I might apply.

Thank you,

Zalmon Katanov
